About your Theory Test
The Driving Theory Test is in two parts: Multiple choice questions and the Hazard Perception test. You must pass the theory test before taking the practical test.

Theory Questions
The first part of the test involves answering 50 multiple choice questions. This test is taken on a computer with a "touch screen" so you simply have to touch the screen next to the answer.

Hazard Perception Test
For the Hazard Perception Test you will be shown a series of video clips shown from a driver's viewpoint. In each of the clips there will be one or more driving hazards and you are asked to click the mouse button as soon as you see a hazard developing. The Hazard Perception Test lasts about 20 minutes.

 About the Driving Test

The Driving Test for car drivers is about 40 minutes long. During this time the examiner will:

1. Check your eyesight by getting you to read a number plate at the required distance.

2. Ask you to show or tell them how to conduct certain vehicle safety checks

3. Direct you to drive around a test route while incorporating two of the following set manoeuvres and optionally the emergency stop.

Set manoeuvres:
• Reverse parking behind a parked car or into a parking bay.
• Reversing round a corner.
• Turn in the road
